The coat of arms of Windhoek is the official city coat of arms of the Namibian capital Windhoek .
description
The design for the coat of arms is said to come from Helmut Lewin , whereby the coat of arms corresponds to the form of the family coat of arms of the founding family of the city of Windhoek, family von François .
In the gray heraldic shield there is an Aloe littoralis that can be found all over the mountains around the city of Windhoek, but especially in the National Botanical Garden . The three flowers of the plant stand for the three original official languages ( Afrikaans , German , English ) that were used when the city's coat of arms was designed.
The crown as a fortress on the coat of arms represents the city as a military base between 1890 and 1915.
