War Production Board

The War Production Board ( WPB for short ) was a body of the US government that was founded in 1942 after the USA entered the war by order of President Franklin D. Roosevelt . The purpose of the facility was to divide the resources of material, personnel and means of production in such a way that effective arms production could be established and maintained. The chairman was Donald M. Nelson until 1944 , who was then replaced by Julias A. Krug .

After the surrender of Japan, the body was dissolved again in November 1945.

A scandal ensued when it was revealed that the USSR had smuggled spies into this body. The following people became known by name:
