Wardenis ( Armenian Վարդենիս ) is a city in Armenia .
geography
It is located in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik , on the southeastern shore of Lake Sevan , the largest lake in the Caucasus . Wardenis has 12,405 inhabitants (as of 2009).
history
Wardenis had a station on the Yerevan – Sotk railway from 1977 to 1991 , which was abandoned south of Schordscha due to the conflict resulting from Armenia's independence.
Partnerships
Since 1996 there has been a town partnership with Romans-sur-Isère in France .
