Warren Gooch

Warren P. Gooch (* 1953 in Duluth / Minnesota ) is an American composer and music teacher .

Gooch studied at the University of Wisconsin – Madison , the University of Minnesota, and the College of St. Scholastica . His teachers included Stephen Dembski , Joel Naumann , Thomas Wegren , Mary Mageau and Eric Stokes , who introduced him to the aesthetic and stylistic positions of contemporary musicians such as George Crumb , Milton Babbitt , Howard Hanson and Nadia Boulanger .

He worked as a music teacher and was composer-in-residence for the Wisconsin school district . He then became Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Truman State University , where he was named Educator of the Year in 2012. He composed church music, choral and orchestral works and wrote a manual on music theory. He has received more than thirty prizes for his compositions. His orchestral work Clockwork was recorded for Parma Recording by the Slovak Radio Orchestra under the direction of Robert Black .
