Action center

The Action Center (in Windows 10 partly also called Windows Security , previously Windows Security Center and before that, in Windows XP , called Security Center ) was introduced by Microsoft with Service Pack 2 for Windows XP . It is used to check the security settings of the PC .

But users should rely on the security of their Windows-based PCs not only to the information of the Windows Security Center, as it also computer viruses or spyware u. a. that can manipulate the status of the Windows security center, which was partly a cause for criticism of the security center.

Starting with Windows 7 there are additional functions:

  • Backup: Monitoring of the backup settings
  • Network access protection: Monitoring by the network access protection
  • Windows Defender is monitored
  • Problem Reports and Solutions: The Action Center looks for solutions to problems
  • Troubleshooting: System: The Action Center is monitoring system problems
