Laundry slip

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A laundry slip is a list of items of laundry that can be washed, usually with care instructions. In the German advertising industry, this is also understood to be a short text that is made available to editors for publication.

Advertising and public relations

In public relations , the laundry slip is a short and concise collection of facts, which summarizes the most important factual information such as product or company information, descriptions of the people involved, etc. A laundry slip is usually not sent alone, but complements press releases, provides background information at press conferences, etc.

Especially in advertising language , a laundry slip is understood to be a text that is distributed by a press or PR department of a company or the like for publication by other editorial offices. The smaller the target editorial team, the more likely it is that these laundry slips will be published without major intervention.

Publishing and librarianship

Long before they are published, the planned books (and other publishing products) are advertised intensively, on the one hand by booksellers and on the other by the media and the press, in order to win over journalists and experts for a review . In addition, central libraries also provide “wash slips” for affiliated libraries as a source of information for newly published books.

The laundry slip often contains a tabular list of everything you should know about the topic, content and the author, but today there is often a short to very detailed discussion of the content, sometimes even pictures and text samples. The laundry slip now often corresponds to the blurb , which, however, fulfills a different function in terms of its purpose and readership.

Colloquial language

In colloquial language , the term washing slip is also used for the package insert for medication .
