Washington Rivière

Washington Rivière (* 1933 in La Pampa ) is an Argentine painter who lived and worked in Europe from 1969 to the 1990s.

Rivière comes from a small rural village where his father was a teacher. He went to Cordoba to school and studied in the 1950s at the local University of painting, philosophy and languages. During his studies and increasingly from 1965 onwards, he began to show his works in solo exhibitions and galleries. In 1966 he settled in Buenos Aires .

In 1969 Rivière emigrated to Paris and lived there until 1973. There, too, he showed his works in solo exhibitions and galleries.

After a short stay in Rome, Rivière finally moved to Germany permanently in 1973 and opened a studio in Düsseldorf .

In the 1990s he returned to Buenos Aires, where he works and lives today. He presented his works to an international audience in numerous exhibitions and has received numerous awards and honors. His works are in private and public collections, especially in Germany and Argentina. a. in the Caraffa Fine Arts Museum and the Contemporary Arts Center in Córdoba, in the Museo de Arte Municipal (MUMART) in La Plata and in the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf.
