The Wasserburg Abbey Thierfeld even whale or Ehrlerinsel called, is a Outbound Wasserburg in northern Thier field in Saxony . It is popularly called "Ehrlerinsel" or "Wal" (a regional name for the medieval castle type Motte (tower hill castle)).

The moated castle, which came into the possession of the existing Cistercian monastery Grünhain between 1230 and 1536 , is located off the village street in the upper Thierfeld. Pottery fragments that cannot be dated back to the 14th century and are now in the Stein Castle Museum indicate that the castle was built by the Grünhain monks. The farm next door and an area with several properties are still called "Abbey" today.

The castle site today shows the still water-filled ring pond of the island complex, the larger, drained western pond and the wall boundary. In 1938 the complex was placed under monument protection and heritage protection.

In the lower Thierfeld there is the stable of another moated castle, the moated Thierfeld .
