Grünau moated castle

The moated castle Grünau is a lost moated castle in the district Grünau of the municipality of Langenweißbach in the district of Zwickau in Saxony . It is also referred to as "good".

history

The moated castle was founded by the Lords of Wildenfels .

On the corresponding sheet Wildenfels of the Meilen Blätter von Sachsen (Berlin copy) the topography of the village of Grünau is recorded relatively precisely with individual farms and watercourses from the end of the 18th century. At the northwest end of the village (upper part of the village) there is a square pond with a square island, about 50 m south of the westernmost four-sided courtyard located there . A wall is indicated by hatching around this pond, just below another pond with a dam or wall is indicated, from which the right source stream rises. The associated georeferenced aerial photo shows a wood at this point. In the literature on the object it is noted: ... today's castle stables only show a moat and an outer wall .
