The Groß Bartensleben watermill is a listed watermill in the village of Groß Bartensleben, part of the Erxleben community in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The building complex consists of three buildings and is located west of the village on both sides of the Aller bank at the address Dorfstrasse 32, 34. Dorfstrasse runs along the south side of the area.

Architecture and history

The actual mill building and the residential building (number 34) were built in 1808 on the western bank of the Aller. Both houses were rebuilt or, at number 32, expanded in the late 19th century. The building on the eastern bank (number 32) served as an inn and bakery.

Different methods were used as construction technology for the houses. Parts were built as half-timbered structures , others from bricks or broken stones .

The mill technology has not been preserved. The buildings are currently (as of 2016) empty and in urgent need of renovation. The Mühlenhof is seen as defining the streetscape and is considered an important document in economic history.

In the local register of monuments , the mill is listed as a historical building under registration number 094 84159 .
