The Aschaffenburg waterway construction department is one of seven new construction and expansion offices for the federal waterways and shipping administration . It is subordinate to the General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping .

The Aschaffenburg Waterway Construction Office is responsible for expansion and new construction measures in the area of ​​the navigable Main between Bamberg and Mainz . After a case of damage to the Bamberg lock in the south of Bamberg in March 2004, the waterway construction department was entrusted with checking and, if necessary, upgrading comparable locks on the Main, the Main-Danube Canal and the Danube with regard to their stability.

history

The Aschaffenburg Waterways Construction Authority goes back to the New Waterways Construction Office, which was founded in 1964 as the new construction department of the Aschaffenburg Waterways and Shipping Authority and which had been an independent organizational unit since 1972. The current Aschaffenburg waterway construction department was established on January 1st, 1994.
