Water jet milling is an abrasive process from the group of jet cutting in order to e.g. B. to remove damaged concrete .

A jet of water with a pressure of over 3,000 bar is directed from the jet tool with a nozzle width of a few millimeters onto concrete. During concrete renovation, brittle old concrete can be removed, while the elastic steel and the concrete that can still be used are retained. One advantage of this technology is the lower level of vibration .

In medical technology there is also the separation of bones ( osteotomy ) by water jet milling with pulsed jet. The bone substance and the surrounding connective tissue have different elasticities . While the tissue is still deforming due to its significantly more elastic behavior, the bone is already at the breaking point and machining can take place. If the pulsation frequency is chosen correctly, the tissue to be protected remains under low stress in the elastic area.
