Halle-Diemitz water tower during dismantling in 2012

The water tower Halle-Diemitz (also water tower Halle-Ost) in Halle (Saale) was built around 1887 and was approx. 45 meters high. It stood near Fiete-Schulze-Strasse in the industrial east of Halle between Reideburger Strasse and the street at the sewage treatment plant. The water tank had a capacity of 200 cubic meters; it was dismantled during or shortly after the Second World War. Since then, the formerly conical roof, of which only the rafters remained , was missing . The tower shaft was made of red clinker brickwork. The relatively small windows in the tower shaft had pointed arches. The wall around the water tank was crowned with battlements . In 2012 it was demolished because of the risk of collapse. Until then it was one of four water towers still in existence in Halle, next to the water tower north , the water tower south and the water tower at the main station .
