Wat Nong Pa Phong

Wat Nong Pa Phong ( Thai : วัด หนอง ป่า พง ; proper spelling Wat Nong Pah Pong , also abbreviated Wat Pah Pong ) is a large Buddhist forest monastery in the district ( Amphoe ) Warin Chamrap in the province of Ubon Ratchathani in northeastern Thailand , the so-called Isan .

Here was Ajahn Chah in 1954 as abbot invited and here he died in 1992 after a long illness.

Wat Nong Pa Phong is in the tradition of the great and influential monk Ajahn Chah , and thus belongs to the so-called forest tradition . Close by is Wat Pah Nanachat , which was founded by Ajahn Chah especially for foreign monks.
