Watzmann (magazine)

Watzmann was a German-language satirical magazine from Austria , which appeared from 1982 to 1985. The main focus was on current political and social satire.

history

Watzmann was founded and published in 1982 by the draftsman Helmut Vogl with an edition of 5000 copies. The magazine was first published in November 1982 on a monthly basis (11 times a year) with a length of between 32 and 40 pages. Around 1700 copies of the first edition were sold, the highest number sold was around 4000.

From March 1984 Helmut Hütter took over the publication. The magazine was last published in March 1985.

The authors included Harald Lanzerstorfer, Karl Themesl, Eberhard Haidegger, Oswald Huber, Erich Hamberger, Manfred Koch and Helmut Vogl,

The draftsmen included Klaus Pitter , Bugatti, Helmut Vogl, Pepsch Gottscheber and Gerhard Haderer . The latter first became known to the general public in the Watzmann.

Regular ingredients

The editor's commentary was to be found under the title Sermon on the Mount . The segment people who are easy to forget received critical comments on public figures. Under the title Schwatzmann , among other things, small reports, sayings and letters to the editor were brought. A comic strip under the title Watzmann (later Mr. Watzmann ) was the editor's alter ego . On the last page there was a regular comic strip called Watzman-Schattseite , which featured the mountain range of the same name as the main actor. Besides the front page, this comic strip was the only element that was regularly printed in color.
