Gerhard Haderer (* 1951 in Leonding ) is an Austrian cartoonist . He signs his drawings with HADES .

Career

Haderer studied at the technical school for commercial and commercial graphics in Linz . He then completed an engraving apprenticeship in Stockholm . He first worked as a decorator at Quelle AG , then as a graphic designer and illustrator for advertising agencies. In 1984 he began to create satirical drawings, which were first published in the magazines Oberndorf aktuell and Watzmann . His cartoons can be found in Profil since 1985 (until 2009), later also in Wiener , Titanic , GEO , trend , the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten , from 1991 to 2016 in Stern and since February 2017 in News magazine .

His book The Life of Jesus , published in 2002, triggered violent reactions, especially from the Catholic Church. The Salzburg auxiliary bishop Andreas Laun demanded compliance with § 188 StGB, which provides for a prison sentence of up to 6 months for blasphemy . On January 19, 2005, he was sentenced in absentia to six months imprisonment in Greece for insulting a religious community in this book. However, this judgment was corrected on appeal on April 13, 2005, and Gerhard Haderer was acquitted.

In November 2017 he opened the school of disobedience thinking workshop on the tobacco factory in Linz .

Haderer is a member of the scientific advisory board of the evolutionary-humanistic Giordano Bruno Foundation .

signature

Hades signature

His signature Hades is the same as the Greek god of the underworld . Manfred Deix explained in 2009 that in the case of pictures that were initially similar in style and similar signatures, he began to mark his signature with a royal crown instead of the i-dot in "Deix".
