Caricature award from the German legal profession

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The caricature prize of the German legal profession is an international art prize that has been awarded by the Federal Chamber of Lawyers (BRAK) since 1998 . The aim is to honor “internationally outstanding cartoonists who, with their critical representations of current political and cultural grievances, are committed to a more just and humane world in a profound way” (according to self-portrayal). The BRAK sees caricaturists as artistic advocates for the disadvantaged and the weak, for more justice.

The jury includes: Ulrich Scharf, former Vice President of the Federal Bar Association and Chairman of the Caricature Prize Jury , journalist Andreas Platthaus , Anne Hélène Hoog, director of the comic museum in Angoulême, Martin Sonntag, director and manager of the Caricatura - gallery for comic art in Kassel and Thomas Remmers, lawyer and notary from Hanover and Vice President of the Federal Bar Association. The award is presented every two years and is endowed with 5,000 euros.
