Göttingen moose

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Göttinger Elch has been awarded since 1997 for “a life's work of satirical provenance and / or a multiple satirical talent”. It was initiated by the Göttingen journalist and exhibition organizer WP Fahrenberg in 1997, when the word moose test was booming . The award is intended to commemorate the "satire forefather" Georg Christoph Lichtenberg . The name of the award is dedicated to FW Bernstein's quote "The harshest critics of the moose used to be some themselves" . The ELCH is generally awarded at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen . Accompanying exhibitions take place in the old town hall in Göttingen.

The satirical prize is endowed with 3,333.33 euros, 99 cans of “Original Göttingen Elk Cream Soup” and a solid silver elk brooch. The winners also receive membership in the Lichtenberg Society .

All ELCH award winners have been portrayed by the Hamburg artist Marion Vina since 2012 .
