Peter Knorr

Peter Knorr (born August 11, 1939 in Salzburg ), also Pit Knorr , is a German satirist and author . He is best known as a co-founder of the satirical magazine Titanic , as an author and director of numerous radio and television programs as well as through his longstanding collaboration with comedian Otto Waalkes .

Life

Peter Knorr, son of the engineer Hans Knorr and the teacher Charlotte Knorr, spent his youth together with his brother Stefan in the Schwalm in northern Hesse. After graduating from the Melanchthon School in Steinatal in 1959 , Knorr studied history , politics and German at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . During this time he became editor-in-chief of the student newspaper “forum academicum” and for several years was a copywriter and member of the student cabaret “ The Ironing Board ”, with which he won first prize at the Berlin Cabaret Festival in 1962 and 1963.

The success allowed the students to turn cabaret into a profession under the direction of Hannelore Kaub and to move from the provinces to West Berlin, where Knorr acted as managing director of the cabaret theater after his state examination in 1966. In 1969 he became editor of the satirical magazine Pardon in Frankfurt am Main . Together with FW Bernstein , Bernd Eilert , Robert Gernhardt , Eckhard Henscheid , Chlodwig Poth , Hans Traxler and FK Waechter , he is co-founder of the New Frankfurt School .

From 1972 Knorr worked as a freelance author for various public radio and television companies, mainly for Hessischer Rundfunk (HR). In 1974 the " GEK-Gruppe " (short for Gernhardt-Eilert-Knorr) came into being. Until Gernhardt's death in 2006, the team of authors not only wrote the texts for Otto Waalkes , but also radio and television comedy series such as Dr. Muffels Telebrause , Der Forellenhof - a new film based on old pictures , Südpolmädel , Dr. Strange Sunday assortment , earpiece ready for battle , Radio ABC and Help wrote.

In 1979 Knorr founded the satirical magazine Titanic together with Robert Gernhardt, Chlodwig Poth, Hans Traxler and FK Waechter . It was not until 2006 that he ended his editorial work.

From 1992 to 2006, Knorr appeared regularly at Easter at a winegrower's home in Alf on the Moselle with a reading of his texts and is with the band "Die eiligen 3 Könige" (Ali Neander, Markus Neumeier and Frank Wolff ) every December. with the satirical Christmas program "Erna, the tree needles!" on stage.

Knorr lives in Frankfurt am Main.
