Mad Professor (born March 27, 1955 in Guyana , real name Neil Joseph Stephen Fraser ) is a music producer and an influential figure in the development of reggae and dub .

Career

He has released over 130 albums since 1979 and is considered one of the most important producers in the 2nd generation of dub reggae. With more than two albums a year, he's exceptionally productive. Mad Professor produced together with reggae veterans Lee Perry and Macka B , among others . In addition, he also worked with well-known singers such as B. Horace Andy (including a member of Massive Attack ), Jah Shaka , U-Roy and Sly & Robbie together.

His style is characterized by echoes, skillful handling of various effects and an extremely dynamic beat.

He has lived and worked in London since he was 13.
