Horace Andy
Horace Andy (* 19th February 1951 in Kingston as Horace Hinds ) is a Jamaican roots reggae singer.
He released his first single Blackman's Country in 1966 , and the album Skylarking was released in 1969 . In the following years he worked with well-known reggae producers such as King Tubby and Prince Jammy and made a name for himself with his characteristic falsetto voice.
In the 1980s he went to London and worked with Mad Professor , among others . Outside of the reggae scene, he became known as a guest singer with Massive Attack , which he also accompanies on tours. On their first album Blue Lines he sings One Love , Five Man Army and Hymn of the Big Wheel . On Protection he sings Spying Glass , a song he wrote. On mezzanine he sings Angel , Man Next Door and Exchange , on 100th Window the songs Everywhen and Name Taken . On Heligoland (2010) he sings Splitting the Atom and Girl I Love You .
In addition, he published numerous of his own albums. Many of his songs can also be heard on compilations . He is featured on the album of the world music project 1 Giant Leap with the song Racing Away (together with Grant-Lee Phillips ).
He is a cousin of Justin Hinds and a supporter of the Rastafarian movement.
