1 Giant Leap is a crossover project by the musician Jamie Catto (founding member of Faithless ) and the producer Duncan Bridgeman from 2001 to bring together music and images from 20 countries against the backdrop of an increasingly globalized world in the genre of world music .

Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman's concept was to capture music and images from around the world to show how much the world has grown together. To do this, they traveled to more than 20 countries and looked for musicians who would make themselves available. The album and film were released in April 2002. Dennis Hopper , Kurt Vonnegut , Michael Stipe ( REM ), Bono ( U2 ), Susan Sarandon , kd lang , Tom Robbins , Dido , Brian Eno , Tim Robbins , Daniel Lanois worked on the project , Yoko Ono , JP Donleavy , Naomi Klein , Oumou Sangaré , Billy Connolly , Baaba Maal , Rokia Traoré , DBC Pierre , Neneh Cherry , Robbie Williams , Lila Downs , Bob Geldof , Neale Donald Walsch , Stephen Fry , Gita Mehta , Linton Kwesi Johnson , Hariprasad Chaurasia , Speech ( Arrested Development ), Mahotella Queens and Michael Franti . The first single was Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost (feat. Mahotella Queens and Ulali ). The second single My Culture (feat. Robbie Williams and Maxi Jazz ) reached the top ten of the British music charts . The accompanying video received a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video in 2003 , but was defeated by Eminem's Without Me . The film was also nominated in the category Best Long Music Video, which was defeated by Westway to the World by The Clash .

Shortly after the publication, the plan for a sequel arose. For five years, the duo toured all five continents, recording videos and music in over 50 different locations. On March 9th, 2009 the second DVD and CD of the project was released: What About Me? . Music genre

The music lives from the mixing of different styles of music from all parts of the world, as is common for world music . Traditional instruments are also used and mixed with elements of modern pop music .
