Wavin is the market leader for plastic pipes in Europe. The name Wavin is derived from the words WA sser and VIN yl. These two words were chosen as the basis for the company name, as initially only plastic pipe systems for water supply were manufactured. Vinyl chloride is the monomer to polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

General

The company's German headquarters are in Twist, Emsland . The group has operated a production site here since 1956. With 5,500 employees across Europe, including 500 in Germany, Wavin generated sales of around 1.2 billion euros in 2014. Wavin has been listed on Euronext in Amsterdam since October 2006 .

In 2012, Wavin was completely taken over by the Mexican chemicals group Mexichem for the equivalent of EUR 531 million. Wavin as the European market leader and Mexichem as the market leader in Latin America together form the world's largest manufacturer of plastic pipes.

Products

The product range includes plastic pipes in various dimensions, weights and uses. Among other things, pipe systems for drinking water supply , sewage systems , rainwater collection systems and gas supply are produced. The company also offers project planning for roof drainage systems.
