The Wayfarer is a sailing dinghy . It was designed in 1957 by Ian Proctor as a school, regatta and traveling dinghy.
The boat was built over 11,000 times from 1958 to 2014. It has its main areas of distribution in the UK , USA , the Netherlands and Denmark . In Germany there are only one-off pieces.
technology
The Wayfarer dinghy was constructed in double chine construction for construction in marine plywood. Lockable storage areas in the stern and bow provide additional buoyancy in the event of capsizing.
The Mark I or Woody called type was sold as a complete boat and as a kit. In order to strictly maintain the concept of one-size-fits-all, the latter are no longer available.
Wayfarer versions made of GRP have been available since 1965 , which among other things have different arrangements of storage compartments and buoyancy chambers and are partly equipped with a self-draining cockpit.
