Wayfarers Chapel

The Wayfarers Chapel is a church of the Swedenborgian in Rancho Palos Verdes , California .

The church was designed by Lloyd Wright , the son of Frank Lloyd Wright , and built between 1949 and 1951 as a memorial to Emanuel Swedenborg . It is characterized by an emphatically modern architecture and its location above the Pacific Ocean . The church is designed using geometric patterns typical of Wright's architecture. This also takes account of the theosophical principle of the order of the world through God. This orientation also corresponds to the integration of the surrounding nature into the building.

In later years a tower and visitor center were added to the church.

The church was on 11 July 2005 as a monument to the National Register of Historic Places of the United States included.
