Rancho Palos Verdes is a city in Los Angeles County in the US state of California , United States on the tip of the Palos Verdes Peninsula . At the 2010 census there were 41,643 people. The city is known for the views of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Catalina Island . The main geographical features are the Palos Verdes Hills and the rocky coasts.
Neighboring communities are, in addition to Los Angeles with the district of San Pedro , Rolling Hills , Rolling Hills Estates , Palos Verdes Estates and Lomita .
