We Con the World

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We Con the World (we kidding the world) is a published in May 2010 video clip of Israeli satire group Latma , the Friedensflotilla Gaza mocked. The video is a spoof of the well-known Michael Jackson song We Are the World from 1985.

content

The song parodies the intentions of the Turkish activists on the Mavi Marmara and deals with the propagandistic exploitation of the Ship-to-Gaza incident . The video adopts the melody and style of the We Are the World video , with the actors imitating the weapons and stereotypes of the individual actors in the convoy with different disguises. Lines like We'll make the world abandon reason / We'll make them all believe that the Hamas is Momma Theresa, As Allah has shown us / For facts there's no demand (We teach the world to be rational, and make them believe Hamas is Mother Theresa, as Allah showed us, there is no need for reason) be with the Idhbah al-Yahud sung in Arabic by the captain  /اذبح اليهود / iḏbaḥ al-yuhūd  / 'slaughter the Jews' contrasts.

background

The video was produced by the American-Israeli journalist Caroline Glick , who also works for the Jerusalem Post and Latma TV . The conservative Center for Security Policy is one of the sponsors . Glick also appears on the chorus.

Reactions

The Iranian state television complained about the video. The short-term linking of the video on a page of the Israeli Foreign Ministry created a diplomatic scandal. Eileen Read , a journalist for the Huffington Post , called for Glick to be fired, describing the video as "distasteful and blatantly racist."

The video is now available with a number of different subtitles, for example in French and Italian.

In July 2010 Latma produced another video in which they parodied the Beach Boys song Fun Fun Fun and instead sang “Guns Guns Guns” (creak, creak, creak).
