history

Roy Lichtenstein, 1967

The work originally belonged to the collection of the entrepreneur Karl Ströher , Darmstadt . In 1981 Peter Iden , founding director of the Frankfurt Museum of Modern Art (1978–1987), was able to acquire a total of 87 works, including Rose Up Slowly, for the city of Frankfurt.

The picture is painted with Magna paints containing pigments made from acrylic resin. These colors dry quickly and matte, which suited Lichtenstein's style of painting and expression.
