Damsau weaving mill
The weaving mill Damsau was a weaving mill on the Limmat on the municipality of Neuenhof in the Swiss canton of Aargau .
history
In 1865, Johann Wild, founder of the Wettingen spinning mill , was granted a concession to use the water on the left side of the Limmat. That is why he built a weaving mill with three turbines in Damsau, which produced a total of 200 hp. Three years later, a weaving mill was also built in Damsau. In 1873 the factory, together with the spinning mill on the Wettinger river side, already had 800 employees and at that time it was the second largest factory in the canton of Aargau. The spinning mill building was destroyed by fire in 1876 and production was then divided up so that only the weaving mill was operated in Damsau and the spinning mill on the Wettinger river side. In 1903 a cable car was built between the spinning mill and the weaving mill, in 1917 generators were installed and the weaving mill electrified. In 1970 the weaving mill was closed and broken down. The weaver mill was built in its place .
