Weegermühle

Weegermühle was a watermill and a residential area that belonged to the town of Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The location of the former watermill is in the Naafbachtal , about two kilometers south of Weeg and seven kilometers (as the crow flies) northeast of the core town of Lohmar. The mill stood on the Lessbach , a left tributary of the Naafbach, barely 100 m from its mouth. With this location, the restrictions on the water usage rights on the Naafbach were probably circumvented, because the Naafmühle was already two kilometers upstream . The Weegermühle was a grain mill. It used to be called Groniger or Gromicher Mühle. A first mention of the mill can be found in the rent and storage book of the Blankenberg office from 1644. A chain led from the mill to the bakery and drove the kneading machine there. The mill also generated electricity. When there was little water in the river and when there was ice the light flickered or you sat in the dark.

An official description from 1888 reports seven residents of Weegermühle who lived in two houses.

Until 1969 Weegermühle belonged to the then independent municipality of Breidt . In the 1970s the demolition took place with reference to the planned construction of the "Naafbachtalsperre". A video of the demolition, shot by the last owner, Mr. Klink, is in the archives of the Wahlscheid Transport and Improvement Association.
