Naafmühle is a residential area that belongs to the town of Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The place is named after the former "Naafer Mühle".

Naafmühle is located in the northeast of Lohmar. Surrounding villages and hamlets are Naaf in the north, Ingersauel in the northeast, Rippert (to Neunkirchen-Seelscheid ) in the southeast, Rengert (to Neunkirchen-Seelscheid) in the south, Bloch in the southwest and Büchel and Mailahn in the northwest.

Naafmühle is located in the Naafbachtal nature reserve directly on the Naafbach , an orographically left tributary of the Agger . This drove the Naafer mill at the time.

history

In 1885 Naafmühle had seven residents who lived in a single house.

Until 1969 Naafmühle belonged to the previously independent municipality of Wahlscheid .

Naafer mill

The oldest evidence of the former water mill can be found in the map series “ Topographia Ducatus Montani ” created by Erich Philipp Ploennies in 1715 , in which the mill is marked as “Nofmühl”. The mill building that still exists today was built around 1800, the adjacent buildings date from the first half of the 19th century. The mill was listed as a historical monument in 1980 .

Today the mill belongs to the “Oberbergische Gesellschaft für Hilfe für den Mülselfe” [help for mentally disabled people] and used as a youth home.
