Grünenborn is located in the northeast of the urban area of Lohmar. Surrounding villages and hamlets are Hähngen and Holl in the northeast, Oberstehöhe and Oberstesiefen in the east, Saal and Unterstesiefen in the southeast, Heide and Höffen in the south, Höffen , Klefhaus , Schönenberg and Katharinenbach in the southwest and Neuhonrath in the west and northwest.
To the west and north of Grünenborn, source rivers of the Maarbach arise .
history
In 1885 Grünenborn had 19 residents who lived in 5 houses.
According to an address book from 1901, the town of Grünenborn had four farm workers and one carpenter .
Until 1969, Grünenborn belonged to the previously independent municipality of Wahlscheid .
Worth seeing
Between the Seelscheider Straße and the Borner Siefen there is a probably early medieval fortification. The field name is "In de Burbich" = "In the castle hill". The Fliehburg is registered as ground monument No. 2 of the city of Lohmar.
