Kern is a hamlet in Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Kern is in the extreme northeast of Lohmar on the border with Overath . Surrounding villages and hamlets are Kulhoven in the north-west, Windhausen in the north, and Viersbrücken in the north-east, Holl in the south, Hähngen in the south-west, Hohnenberg and Honsbach in the west.
