history

Kuhlhoven was mentioned in a document in 1470 as Couldenhoven .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the residential area had a courtyard as early as 1715, which is labeled as Kulhofe . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Kulzhof . It emerges from it that the place was part of the honor of saints in the parish of Overath at that time .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1817 as Koelhofen . The Prussian first recording from 1845 shows the residential area which is not entered by name. The Prussian new recording from 1892 shows the place under the name Kuhlhofen . The place is later regularly recorded as Kulhoven on measuring table sheets .

In 1822 ten people lived in the place categorized as good and designated Kölhofen , which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor in the Mülheim am Rhein district . For the year 1830 eleven inhabitants are given for the place called Koelhofen und Lachtgut . According to the overview of the government district of Cöln, the place designated as Kulhoven in 1845 and categorized as a lease had a residential building with nine inhabitants at that time, all of whom were Catholic.

The list of residents and livestock from 1848, which among other things served to collect taxes, counted 6 residents in Kulhoven. After that, a Heinrich Jansen (Ackerer, Vicariegut) lived there with his family of three, which included a foster child in addition to their own child, and two servants . The authorities listed the number of livestock: 1 horse, 3 cows, 2 cattle, 6 pigs .

The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province lists Kuhlhoven in 1871 with one house and nine residents. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, a house with seven residents is given for Kuhlhoven . In 1895 the place has a house with six inhabitants, in 1905 one house and four inhabitants are given.
