history

The Blindenaafer mill was located on the lower reaches of the Vilshover Bach at the confluence with the Kleiner Naafbach shortly before its confluence with the Naafbach and appeared cartographically for the first time unlabelled in 1817 as a mill symbol on the topographical recording of the Rhineland , as well as on the Prussian first recording from 1845 In 1892 the place is regularly recorded as M. or Blindennaafer M. on measuring table sheets .

It was popularly called Donnerweddersch-Möllchen because it could only be put into operation when it had rained heavily beforehand - i.e. after a strong thunderstorm . It had a grinding gear and an old wooden gear with a crown wheel .

In 1822 34 people lived together in Blindenaaf and the Blindenaafer Mühle, which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor's office in the Mülheim am Rhein district and were then called the Blindenofen and Blindenofener Mühle . For the year 1830 are for a courtyard with a mill designated place Blind oven specified together 40 inhabitants for both residential places. The Blindenaf , which was also categorized as a farm and mill according to the survey of the government district of Cologne in 1845 , had eleven residential buildings with 68 inhabitants at that time, all of them Catholic denominations. The Blindenaafer mill was also added to the place. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province lists Blindenaafermühle in 1871 with just one house and one inhabitant. In the municipality encyclopedia for the Rhineland province of 1888, a house without residents is given for Blindenaafermühle. In 1895 the place also had a house without inhabitants, in 1905 one house and nine inhabitants are given.

In 1939 the mill was demolished.
