Weißenstein is a district of Marialinden in the town of Overath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

Location and description

Weißenstein in its altitude offers a good view of the Bergische landscape. The small district can be reached from the center of the old pilgrimage site of Marialinden via the Alte Römerstraße in the direction of the castle. The districts of Büscherhöfchen , Rottfeld and Kirschbaum are nearby.

history

Weißenstein did not emerge until the second half of the 19th century as a street village on the old route of the Brüderstraße , an important medieval old highway from Flanders via Cologne to Leipzig . On the route of the old Höhenweg , the connecting road runs in this section today via Rottfeld to Burg .

The municipal and Gutbezirksstatistik the Rhine Province leads Weissenstein 1871 with four houses and 22 residents. In the municipality encyclopedia for the Rhineland province from 1888, four houses with 22 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place has three houses with 16 inhabitants and belonged denominationally to the Catholic parish Marialinden, in 1905 three houses and 14 inhabitants are given.
