history

Katzemich was first mentioned in the 13th century as Kazzenbach , in 1470 it was mentioned as Katzemich . The defining word cat is derived from the nhd. Designation for the animal species and refers to the Katzenbach (mich = bich = Bach).

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the residential area had two farmsteads as early as 1715, which are labeled as Kazemich . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Kesermich . It shows that at that time the place was part of the Löderich family in the parish of Overath.

In 1822 14 people lived in the place categorized as a courtyard and designated as Katzemig , which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor's office in the Mülheim am Rhein district . For the year 1830 16 inhabitants are given for the place called Katzemich . The place categorized as a courtyard according to the overview of the government district of Cologne in 1845 had three residential buildings with 25 inhabitants, all of them Catholic denominations. The local and Gutbezirksstatistik the Rhine Province leads Katzemich 1871 with six houses and 37 residents. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, six houses with 29 inhabitants are given for Katzemich . In 1895 the place had six houses with 31 inhabitants, in 1905 six houses and 42 inhabitants are given.
