Oderscheiderfeld is a district of Marialinden in the town of Overath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

Location and description

The agricultural district of Oderscheiderfeld is located on Landesstraße 36, which is called Pilgerstraße here. It runs on the route of the medieval Höhenstraße Brüderstraße . In addition to the TUS Marialinden sports club, a flower farm and a forestry company that specializes in Christmas tree cultures, the district consists primarily of coniferous forests and fields. The next places are Großoderscheid and Siefen .

history

The area around Großoderscheid , Kleinoderscheid , Oderscheiderberg and Oderscheiderfeld - not the place itself, as it was only created after the dissolution of the Bergisch honors - was part of the Oderscheid Honschaft in the Middle Ages and early modern times and belonged to the knight's seat Vilkerath . Oderscheid is one of the -scheid names and describes a range of hills that forms a border or a watershed.

Oderscheiderfeld was settled relatively late. Only in the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888 are two houses with ten residents specified for Oderscheiderfeld . In 1895 the place also has two houses with ten inhabitants and belonged denominationally to the Catholic parish Marialinden, in 1905 two houses and eight inhabitants are given.

The place appears cartographically for the first time on the Prussian new record of 1892 and is regularly recorded as Oderscheiderfeld on the updated measuring table sheets of the following years . With the neighboring Marialinden it now forms an almost closed settlement area due to the spreading settlement of the church village.
