Siefen is a district of Marialinden in the town of Overath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

Location and description

Siefen is located between Vilkerather Straße (Kreisstraße 37) and Landesstraße 360 ​​near Landwehr . The district consists mainly of forests and fields. Individual half-timbered houses and modern houses alternate. The Siefen street stretches for 5 kilometers through the district. The only crossing is adorned with a listed wooden cross from 1883. The name Siefen goes back to Henricus dictus Oderscheit de Siphen , who was enfeoffed with this courtyard.

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the residential area had two farmsteads as early as 1715, which are labeled as Siefen . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Siefen . It shows that the place was part of the Honschaft Miebach in the parish of Overath at that time .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Sifen . The Prussian first recording from 1845 shows the residential area under the name Siefen. From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is regularly recorded as seven on measuring table sheets .

In 1822 22 people lived in the place categorized as a courtyard , which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor's office in the Mülheim am Rhein district and was then called Sifen . For the year 1830 26 inhabitants are given for the place called Hof . The place, which was categorized as a courtyard in 1845 according to the overview of the government district of Cologne , had four residential buildings with 19 residents at that time, all of which were Catholic. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province lists Siefen in 1871 with five houses and 25 inhabitants. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, five houses with 26 inhabitants are given for Siefen. In 1895 the place has six houses with 25 inhabitants and belonged denominationally to the Catholic parish Marialinden, in 1905 five houses and 23 inhabitants are given.
