history

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the residential area had a courtyard as early as 1715, which is labeled as Bugmühl . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Bugmühl . It shows that the place was part of the Honschaft Miebach in the parish of Overath at that time .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1817 as Buchmühl . The Prussian first recording from 1845 shows the residential area under the name Bachmühlenhof . In the Prussian new recording from 1892, the place is recorded as a book mill . After that, the place is regularly referred to as Bochmühle on measuring table sheets .

In 1822 nine people lived in the place categorized as a leasehold and called Bochmühle , which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor in the Mülheim am Rhein district . For the year 1830 eleven inhabitants are given for the place called Bochmühle . According to the overview of the government district of Cöln, the place designated as Bochmühle and categorized as a lease property in 1845 had a residential building with six residents, all of them Catholic denominations. The local and Gutbezirksstatistik the Rhine Province leads Buchenmuhle 1871 with a residential building and 12 residents. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province from 1888, a house with nine inhabitants is given for Buchmühle . In 1895 the place had a house with seven inhabitants, in 1905 one house and six inhabitants were given for Bochmühle .

The Bochmühle

The eponymous watermill was on the Agger or the Schlingenbach . Nothing of the mill has survived today and the exact location is therefore unclear. Before the 19th century, there was a punch mill - a bone mill - in which animal bones were processed into bone meal, which was used as fertilizer. It is possible, but not certain, that the mill was mentioned in a document as early as the 13th century as a busmulen .
