Wüststeimel is a district of Marialinden in the town of Overath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

Location and description

The small district of Wüststeimel is located between the villages of Schlingenthal and Kaltenborn on the narrow district road 37. Federath and Krahwinkel are nearby . Wüststeimel is mainly used for agriculture. In terms of natural space, the location is part of the Marialinder Riedelland , a wetland in which rare animals and plants can be found and which in turn is part of the Agger-Sülz plateaus .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the living space had a courtyard as early as 1715, which is labeled as Wüst Steimel . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Wüstesteinmel . It shows that the place was part of the Honschaft Miebach in the parish of Overath at that time .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825 as Wüststeimel . The Prussian first recording from 1845 shows the residential area under the name Wüsten-Steimel . From the Prussian new admission in 1896, the place is regularly recorded on the measurement table as Wüststeimel .

In 1822 13 people lived in the place designated as Wüststeimel and categorized as a courtyard, which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor in the Mülheim am Rhein district . For the year 1830 16 inhabitants are given for the place called Wüststeimel . The place, which was categorized as Wuststeimel in 1845 according to the overview of the government district of Cologne , had five residential buildings with 37 inhabitants, all of them Catholic denominations. The municipal and Gutbezirksstatistik the Rhine Province leads Wüst Steimel 1871 with six houses and 26 residents. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, seven houses with 26 inhabitants are given for Wüststeimel . In 1895 the place had five houses with 26 inhabitants and belonged denominationally to the Catholic parish Marialinden, in 1905 five houses with 21 inhabitants are given.
