Tevfik Alpaslan (born June 28, 1926 in Göynücek , Amasya province ) is a former Turkish Major General of the Air Force (Hava Kuvvetleri) , who played a key role in the planning and implementation of Operation Atilla for the occupation of the north of the island of Cyprus by Turkey on May 20 Participated in July 1974 and was in command of the Air Force School ( Hava Harp Okulu ) from 1976 to 1977 .

Life

Alpaslan first attended the military middle school in Konya , which he graduated in 1941, and then the Kuleli cadet school (Kuleli Askerî Lisesi) . In 1944 he began his officer training at the Army School ( Kara Harp Okulu ) , which he finished on August 30, 1946 as an ensign (Asteğmen) . After a subsequent course at the Infantry School in Çankırı , he switched to the Air Force, which had become independent on January 31, 1944, and began his pilot training in 1948. After various posts in the Air Force, he graduated from the Air Force Academy ( Hava Harp Akademisi ) between 1955 and 1957 and was transferred to the 141st Squadron of the 4th Air Force Base on August 29, 1957 as a pilot and later as an operations officer. Since August 30, 1959, he found use in the combat aircraft training squadron and was then from 1960 to 1962 air force attaché at the embassy in the People's Republic of Romania .

After his return, Alpaslan became commander of the 88th Air Force Base in September 1962 and then, on July 30, 1963, chief of operations training at the 8th Air Force Base. He then acted as head of the operations department of the 3rd Air Force Command from September 4, 1964, and became its chief of staff on November 20, 1964. This was followed between August 31, 1965 and August 30, 1970 various uses in the headquarters of the air force and from August 30, 1970 to August 30, 1971 as commander of the 3rd Air Force Base (3 ncü Ana Jet Üs Komutanlığı) . Most recently, Alpaslan was Major General (Tümgeneral) as the successor to Major General Halit Toroslu from August 23, 1976 until his replacement by Major General Yusuf Özer on September 5, 1977 in command of the Air Force School ( Hava Harp Okulu ) .
