Halit Toroslu

Halit Nusret Toroslu (born May 25, 1924 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish General of the Air Force (Hava Kuvvetleri) who, among other things, was the commander of the Air Force School ( Hava Harp Okulu ) from 1975 to 1976 and later Secretary General of the MGK National Security Council between 1981 and 1985 ( Millî Güvenlik Kurulu ) was.

Life

Toroslu attended schools in Istanbul and from 1941 to 1943 the Maltepe Military Cadet Institute (Maltepe Askerî Lisesi) in Güzelbahçe, founded in 1928 . In 1943 he began his officer training at the Army School ( Kara Harp Okulu ) , which he completed on August 30, 1945 as an ensign (Asteğmen) . After attending the infantry rifle school (Piyade Atış Okulu) in Çankırı , he completed his pilot training at the flight school (Hava Okulu) in Eskişehir and was transferred to the 5th Air Force Regiment ( 5th Tayyare Alayı) after its completion in 1947 . In 1951 he officially joined the Air Force and became a pilot in the 193rd Squadron of the 9th Regiment in Balıkesir . After completing advanced training for squadron commanders in the USA , he was transferred to the 9th Air Force Base in 1955 and then in 1957 as an operations officer at the 6th Air Force Base.

After Toroslu had attended the Air Force Academy (Hava Harp Akademisi) between 1957 and 1959 , he became an operations officer of the 143rd Squadron, of which he was commander in 1960. During a deployment from 1962 to 1965 at the Air Force Headquarters, he attended the NATO Defense College between September 1, 1964 and February 7, 1965 , which was then still in Paris . He then became head of the operations and training department of the 6th Air Force Base in Bandırma on August 25, 1965 and then Chief of Staff of the 1st Air Force Command in September 1967, before becoming Commander of the 9th Air Force Base (1st Ana Jet Üs Komutanlığı) in Eskişehir.

Toroslu was a military attaché at the embassy in the Soviet Union between September 28, 1969 and September 28, 1971 . After his return he was deputy head of the strategic planning department in the General Staff of Turkey until August 30, 1972 and was then employed as the head of the intelligence service at the headquarters of the Air Force, before becoming deputy head of the Air Force Training Command on August 30, 1973. On August 21, 1975 he became Major General and successor to Major General Halil Sözer as Commandant of the Air Force School and held this position until his replacement by Major General Tevfik Alpaslan on August 23, 1976.

After subsequent further uses, Toroslu was as Lieutenant General (Korgeneral) at the time of the military coup on September 12, 1980, commander of the 2nd Tactical Air Force Command in Diyarbakır . As General (Orgeneral) he succeeded Lieutenant General Talat Çetineli as General Secretary of the National Security Council MGK ( Millî Güvenlik Kurulu ) on August 24, 1981 . He remained in this post until August 19, 1985 and was then replaced by Admiral Orhan Karabulut .
