Location and description

Fischermühle is located in the upper Naafbachtal directly on state road 312, which connects the center of Overath with Much . The Birkenbach flows into the Naafbach near the mill.

history

The fisherman's mill was built in 1783 by a Peter Fischer from Krampenhöhe am Naafbach. The construction took place despite protests from Count von Schaesberg , who, however, could not prevail in this dispute. It was a grain mill , which also appeared for the first time cartographically as a mill symbol in 1825 on the topographic map of the Rhineland .

The mill was part of the Oderscheid Honschaft in the parish of Overath until the 19th century and after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement it belonged to the Overath mayor in the Mülheim am Rhein district . The place is recorded on the Prussian first recording from 1845 as Fischer M. From the Prussian new admission in 1892, the place is regularly on measurement table sheets as Fischer M. , Fischer-M. and most recently listed as a fisherman's mill.

The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine province list Fischermühle in 1871 with one house and ten residents. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province from 1888, a house with five residents is given. In 1895 the place had a house with ten inhabitants and belonged denominationally to the Catholic parish of Marialinden, in 1905 one house and twelve inhabitants are given.

After being converted into an excursion restaurant, the waterwheel was expanded by the mill builder Höller in the 1980s . Millstones are still used as table tops.
