history

Höderath was first mentioned in 1217 as Hurterodhe . The name suffix -rath is a typical clearing name, the designator is probably derived from a personal name Horthari .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the residential area had a courtyard as Freihof as early as 1715, which is labeled as Höderrad . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Hoder . From it it emerges that the place was part of the Honschaft Balken in the parish of Overath at that time .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1817 as Horderath . The Prussian first recording from 1845 shows the residential area under the name Höderath . From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is regularly recorded as Höderath on measuring table sheets .

In 1822 eight people lived in the place categorized as a lease and named Hörderath , which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor in the Mülheim am Rhein district . For the year 1830, nine inhabitants are given for the place categorized as leased property and designated as Hörderath . According to the survey of the government district of Cöln, categorized as an isolated house in 1845 and called Hoederath , at that time it had a residential building with nine inhabitants, all of whom were Catholic.

In 1848 the list of inhabitants and cattle for Hofplatz Höderath lists 8 residents: the family of three of the farmer Peter Wilhelm Spanier and, unnamed: 5 servants . The Spaniards' property according to the list: 1 horse, 12 cows, 3 cattle, 2 calves and 7 pigs . The municipal and Gutbezirksstatistik the Rhine Province leads Höderath 1871 with a dwelling house and ten inhabitants. In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland from 1888, Höderath is also given a house with ten residents. In 1895 the place had a house with five inhabitants, in 1905 one house and ten inhabitants are given.
