Oderscheiderberg is a district of Marialinden in the town of Overath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

Location and description

The elongated, agricultural district of Oderscheiderberg lies below the state road 360 (which is called Pilgerstraße here and runs along the route of the old Brüderstraße ) and next to the district road 37.Like the nearby villages of Großoderscheid , Niedergrützenbach , Obergrützenbach and Krampenhöhe , it is one of the source areas of the Naafbach . It rises in the Heckberg wooded area in addition to two source streams and smaller tributaries, some of which run underground. Rare plants and animals live in the resulting wetlands in the area. The Kleine Naafbach flows through the Oderscheiderberg . This means that the place is part of the Naafbachtal nature reserve .

history

The area around Großoderscheid , Kleinoderscheid , Oderscheiderfeld and Oderscheiderberg - not the place itself, as it was only created after the dissolution of the Bergisch honors - was part of the Oderscheid honors in the Middle Ages and early modern times and belonged to the knight's seat of Vilkerath . Oderscheid is one of the -scheid names and describes a range of hills that forms a border or a watershed.

The place was only created in the second half of the 19th century. It appears cartographically for the first time on the Prussian New Record of 1892 and is regularly listed as Oderscheiderberg on the updated measurement table sheets of the following years .

The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine province show Oderscheiderberg 1871 with twelve houses and 60 inhabitants. In the municipality encyclopedia for the Rhineland province of 1888, 12 houses and 60 inhabitants are also given for Oderscheiderberg. In 1895 the place had ten houses with 58 inhabitants and belonged denominationally to the Catholic parish of Marialinden, in 1905 nine houses and 43 inhabitants are given.
