Federath is a district of Marialinden in the town of Overath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany . It is located approximately 6 km east of the core area of ​​Overath at an altitude of 300 meters.

history

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the residential area had four farms as early as 1715, which are labeled as Fetterath . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the courtship on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Vederath . It shows that the place was part of the Honschaft Oderscheid in the parish of Overath at that time .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Federath . The Prussian first recording from 1845 shows the residential area under the name Fedderath . From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is regularly recorded as Federath on measuring table sheets .

The place was on the Brüderstraße , an important medieval old highway from Flanders via Cologne to Leipzig . Within the village, the connecting road from Lorkenhöhe to Heckhaus runs today along the route of the old Höhenweg .

In 1822, 52 people lived in the place categorized as a farm and hamlet , which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement, belonged to the Overath mayor in the Mülheim am Rhein district . For the year 1830 61 inhabitants are given for the place designated as leased property . The place, which was categorized as a village in 1845 according to the survey of the government district of Cologne , was listed under the name Föderath and at that time had 20 residential buildings with 89 inhabitants, all of them Catholic denominations.
