Halzemich is a district of Overath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .
Location and description
Halzemich is located between the street An der Sonne (Kreisstraße 34) and the Naafbach , which forms the border with the Rhein-Sieg district here. The closest localities are Blindenaaf , Büchel , Viersbrücken and Eulenthal , all water-rich areas in whose wetlands rare animals and plants live. These landscapes are naturally included in the Marialinder Riedelland . Large parts of the Naafbach valley are also under nature protection . Garden owners in Halzemich regularly take part in the open garden day , where special gardens are presented to the public. Local media in particular pay regular attention to the meetings.

An early mention of the place took place under the name Halzenbach . The original name belongs to the -bach name group. The determiner may be derived from the personal name Halzimo .
The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , shows that the residential area had four farms as early as 1715, which are labeled as Halsemich . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Halzemich . It emerges from it that the place was part of the honor of saints in the parish of Overath at that time .
The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1817 as Halsemich . The Prussian first recording from 1845 shows the residential area under the name Halzemich . From the Prussian new admission of 1892, the place is regularly recorded as Halzemich on measuring table sheets .
In 1822, 51 people lived in the place, categorized as a courtyard and designated as Halsemich , which after the collapse of the Napoleonic administration and its replacement belonged to the Overath mayor in the Mülheim am Rhein district . For the year 1830 57 inhabitants are given for the place called Hof und Halsemich . In 1845, according to the overview of the government district of Cöln, categorized as a village and called Halzemich , at that time 10 residential buildings with 54 inhabitants, all of them Catholic denominations.
