Chapel of St. Isidore

The Halberg chapel is dedicated to St. Isidore and St. Barbara . It was built by Johann Bertram Griefrath, the Lohmarer mayor , who was also an innkeeper and postman and lived on the Henseler's farm. In 1731 he had the construction approved by the Archbishop's General Vicariate and began construction, which was completed in 1732. In 1743 the son-in-law and successor Johann Limbach set up a vicarie to maintain the chapel. His widow, in turn, supplemented this with an annual donation of three malters of grain for a donation of bread for the chapel festival . In 1911 a chapel association was founded. In 1930 a transept was added to the nave and a new choir was built. The roof was donated by the von Nesselrode family, who bought the legacy of the Griefrath family and felt obliged to the foundation. In the meantime a large sacristy has also been added. The chapel is a listed building and is a branch of the Catholic parish church “St. Johannes Beheading ”in Lohmar.
