The Breidtersteegsmühle was built around 1835 with the approval of the royal government in Cologne . In the approval document, the Jabach was still called "Waschbach". The mill takes its name from an earlier footbridge over the Jabach, which the residents of Breidt and the surrounding villages used when going to church.

Until 1969, Breidtersteegsmühle belonged to the previously independent community of Breidt .
